MAY 

• May 4: Cleanup/Garden Beautification

  • For the last 5 years, the Elm Street Community has held two neighborhood cleanups yearly on the Lower East Side of New Castle. This year, the first is a Cleanup/Garden Beautification on May 4th in partnership with Tri-County Cleanways, Bible Way COGIC, & others. Come out for garden planting/beautification, lunch, games, and other activities. This event will meet at 125 N Crawford Ave at 9 am with signup starting at 8:30 am. We hope to see you there!

• May 6: Neighborhood Watch Meeting

  • The New Castle Police Chief is a presenter

  • Meetings are held at 6 pm at 125 N Crawford Ave.

• May 30: DON Fishing Derby

  • The Fishing Derby, organized by Disability Options Network (DON), occurs biannually. This event occurs in May and August at McDanel’s Accessible Fishing Pier in Moraine State Park. The event offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to fish without needing a fishing license. DON supplies fishing poles, bait, and lunch for participants.

• June 3: Neighborhood Watch Meeting​

  • Meetings are held at 6 pm at 125 N Crawford Ave.

• August 6: National Night Out ​​

• National Night Out is the first Tuesday of August each year.  During National Night Out, the neighborhood comes together with law enforcement officers and first responders to promote community partnerships and build a safer community. The Keystone Elm Street Designation has police officers, firefighters, and ambulance personnel who interact with community members. There will be food, entertainment, games, and face painting.
